Bangalore

Nicknamed as the the Silicon Valley of India It is India’s third largest city and fifth largest metropolitan area. It is the capital of Karnataka State.
The district is the Principal Administrative unit below the state level. The Deputy Commissioner, being the head of the District Administration, is perhaps the only officer vested with powers under largest number of both Central and State Laws. The D.C. office comes in direct contact with the people and people’s representatives at various levels. The office of the Deputy Commissioner apart from having many original works enumerated under different Acts and Rules, has got the supervisory and coordinating roles at the district level. Apart from regulatory functions, the Deputy Commissioner guides and coordinates the developmental activities of the district.
Bengluru is well-connected to all the major destinations across the globe served by Bangalore International Airport. The city was earlier served by the HAL Airport. Bengluru comes under the South Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Bengluru City Railway Station and Yeshwanthapur Junction connect the city to the rest of the country. Bengluru is connected with NH4 to Mumbai- Pune – Chennai, NH7 Is conneted with VARANASI – NAGPUR – HYDERABAD – – HOSUR – MADURAI – CAPECOMORIN NH-48 to Manglore, The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation operates buses connecting Bengluru with other parts of Karnataka as well as other states. The main bus depots are the Kempegowda Bus Station (popularly known as Majestic), Shantinagar Bus Depot, and Shivajinagar Bus Depot.

A rapid transit system called Namma Metro runs across the city, comprising of 41 stations. The metro line between Sampige Road and Peenya Industrial Area was inaugurated on 1 March 2014. Once complete, it is expected to connect central locations in Bengluru to Devanahalli and Chikaballapur regions.
